In the 1980s, as a preliminary to privatisation, BR was divided into Sectors, each with its own distinctive livery. Suddenly trains became worth photographing again! Electrification was extended north-east from Colchester, initially to Ipswich in 1985, to Harwich in 1986 and then to Norwich in 1987 As a result Class 86 electric locos began working both passenger and freight trains on the Great Eastern section.
