Mainline Scene - Railway Photos by Geoffrey King

Through electric working between London and Clacton & Walton had begun some years before I arrived in Essex. But that was in the era of blue or blue and grey colour schemes which did not make for interesting pictures. But with the introduction of the red, white and blue Network South-East livery, trains suddenly became phototgenic. The breakup of NSE into numerous privatised TOC's brought both change and variety as one TOC sometimes borrowed another's stock and livery. The 'one Railway' slate blue livery never caught up with the large fleet of emu's in the area before that in turn was overtaken by the change to National Express East Anglia.
